DR. ZBYS FEDOROWICZ MSc
DPH BDS. LDS RCS (Eng),
is a British national who
graduated from the Royal Dental Hospital of London in
1971. His clinical experience has included postings in
Holland & South Africa & over the last 30 years in the
Middle East (UAE, Saudi Arabia & Bahrain). He is
currently employed as a Consultant to the MOH in Bahrain
& is the Director of the Bahrain Branch of the UK
Cochrane Centre & is on the Board of Directors & the
Steering Group of the Cochrane Collaboration. His
publications include 10 Cochrane systematic reviews. He has recently coauthored
& published 2 books & has a
number of publications in peer-reviewed journals. His
principal research interests are in the methodology of
systematic reviews & in healthcare research priority
setting in lower/middle income countries. |

DR. AMANI AL HAJERI MD,
MSc Medical Genetics (Scotland), B.Sc Basic Medical
Sciences, Joint Board Certificate in Family Practice (ICGP)
& (RCSI), Arab Board of Family & Community Medicine. She
is a Bahraini clinical geneticist who graduated from the
AGU. Currently is employed as a Chief resident in the
Genetic Dept. of the MOH in Bahrain & is the
Handsearching Program Coordinator of the Bahrain Branch
of the UK Cochrane Centre. She is actively involved in
producing systematic reviews in collaboration with the
Cystic Fibrosis & Genetics Diseases & Heart Cochrane
groups. She has a number of publications in several
peer-reviewed journals. She is also a member of the
editorial board of Bahrain Medical Bulletin. Her
principal research interests are in the methodology of
systematic reviews, the common genetic disorders in the
region such as hemoglobinopathies and in family
medicine. |

DR. MONA NASSER,
graduated from the Shaheed Beheshti University of
Medical Sciences where she is currently a researcher &
instructor in Evidence-based Dentistry. Her work also
includes teaching & conducting Systematic Review in
several research centers, institutes & dental schools.
She is the coordinator of the Cochrane Developing
Countries Network & an author in several Cochrane Review
Groups. Her publications include several Cochrane
Reviews & protocols & methodological studies. Her
principal research interest is in healthcare research
priority setting in LMIC countries & developing training
programs on systematic reviews, the methodology of
systematic reviews of healthcare intervention & Islamic
medical history. |
Workshop
objectives:

Participants be acquainted with the Cochrane Collaboration and its
activities
- Participants should understand the differences between a systematic
review & a traditional narrative review.

Participants should understand the rationale for systematic reviews

Participants understand the significance of levels of evidence
represented as the ‘hierarchy of evidence’

Participants should have obtained a foundation knowledge of the
steps required to conduct a systematic review in the field of health
care

Collaboration is an international organization that aims to help
people make well-informed decisions about healthcare by preparing,
maintaining and promoting the accessibility of systematic reviews of
the effects of healthcare interventions.
This intensive
two-day systematic review training workshop will allow the

its activities as well as provide the necessary skills to contribute
to this type of research.
